Designing the worlds players remember.
Concept art, visual development, and worldbuilding for games and original IPs.
I'm Simon Mackmurdie, a concept artist specializing in character, creature, and environment design for games. I love the early stages of projects, where the rough ideas start to take shape into clear designs that feel believable, functional and ready for production.
My workflow focuses on a strong visual foundation and the use of silhouette and iterative design passes to create informed designs. I also enjoy solving the practical side of concept art as much as the creative side, making sure each design communicates clearly with materials callouts, orthographic turnarounds and final rendered images to ensure my designs are ready to be handed off to the next stage in the development pipeline.
Whether I'm designing a corrupted fantasy creature, a weathered adventurer, or a lived-in environment, I aim to balance readability, storytelling, and production-minded design. I believe good concept art doesn't just look interesting, it gives a team the information they need to build the final asset with confidence.
I'm excited to contribute to projects that value strong worldbuilding, memorable characters, and thoughtful visual development.
